Mission Innovation: Accelerating the Clean Energy Revolution

Together with other participating companies, the UK government has committed toĀ doubling funding on carbon mitigation R&D, targeting seven areas of which solar fuels is one, via theĀ Mission Innovation strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for the UK Solar Fuels and Artificial Photosynthesis research community.

Mission Innovation

The global community has made remarkableĀ progressĀ in driving down the costs and increasing the use of key clean energy options. However, these impressive gains are still insufficient to meet our long-termĀ climate goalsĀ while providing affordable, reliable, and secure energy supplies.

To reinvigorate global efforts in clean energy innovation, Mission Innovation members share a common goal to develop and scale breakthrough technologies and substantial cost reductions. MI members aim to seek to double public clean energy research and development investment over five years.

A joint launch statement was issued on 20 November, 2015, in Paris, France, on behalf of the Governments of participating countries. The participating countries are: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States of America.
