International Exchanges Scheme between the Royal Society and JSPS
The Royal Society and JSPS have a new agreement in place to cost share exchange of researchers between the UK and Japan. Up to £12,000 for travel and subsistence is available from the Royal Society for UK based researchers to conduct 2-year projects, including a maximum of £2,000 for research expenses. Equivalent funding is available from JSPS for Japan based researchers.
The Royal Society and JSPS have agreed to jointly fund 5 new projects in this call.
UK Based Application:
UK based researchers should apply to the Royal Society’s 2016/R3 (Standard Programme) and follow the cost share programme scheme notes with a deadline of 10 October 2016. For more information about how to apply, please go to the following web link:

Japan Based Applications:
Japan based researchers should apply for matching funds to the JSPS Bilateral Open Partnership Scheme. The deadline for Japanese institutions to submit an application to JSPS Tokyo is 8th September 2016. The internal deadline Japanese institutions set to collect these applications from individual researchers is earlier and should be confirmed by the applicant as soon as possible. *Please note the Royal Society’s International Exchanges Scheme is a global programme, applications with Japan are eligible for consideration regardless of whether matching funds from JSPS are being sought.
