2nd Joint UK Solar Fuels Network-SuperSolar workshop

2nd Joint UK Solar Fuels Network-SuperSolar workshop on Solar Energy Conversion and Storage

10 December 2019, 9.30-17.00

Venue: Main Chemistry Lecture Theatre in South Kensington Campus, Imperial College London, London

Solar energy as the most abundant energy source has a potential to meet increasing global energy demands. However in order to achieve such potential, substantial scientific and technological challenges have to be solved, involving light absorption, charge separation and utilisation. This workshop brings researchers working towards the solar-driven conversion of abundant resources into renewable fuels together with those addressing the formulation, characterisation and development of photovoltaic cell materials and architectures, in order to stimulate synergies to meet these challenges.

In this one-day workshop, speakers from both the solar fuels and photovoltaic research fields will discuss the different approaches to solar energy conversion and solar fuel synthesis, covering both materials challenges and underlying fundamentals. It will spark new insights and ideas with a goal of promoting research cooperation and fostering new collaborations and partnerships.

We are very happy to announce the following invited speakers:

  • Prof James Durrant, Imperial College London

Title: Charge trapping in materials for solar energy conversion.

  • Prof Laurie Peter, University of Bath

  • Prof Richard Catlow, University College London

  • Prof Aron Walsh, Imperial College London

Title: Which solar energy material should I work on next?

  • Dr Sam Stranks, University of Cambridge

Title: Multi-Modal Microscopy Approaches to Understand Halide Perovskite Device Operation.

  • Dr. Rebecca Milot, University of Warwick

Title: Terahertz Spectroscopy for the Characterization of Optoelectronic Processes in Hybrid Metal Halide Perovskites.

This workshop will be organised by Prof. Junwang Tang (UCL), Dr Christopher Malins (SuperSolar Hub, Loughborough University), sponsored by the UK SuperSolar Hub and Solar Fuels Network UK, and to be held in South Kensington Campus, Imperial College London in London on 10th December 2019.
